Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, delivered a powerful critique of the Wokingham Liberal Democrat administration, highlighting their financial mismanagement, tax hikes, and deteriorating services. She pointed to the £5.5 million California Crossroads project as a symbol of their incompetence—an unsafe, wasteful scheme that ignored expert warnings. Pauline also took aim at their Local Plan, particularly the Hall Farm development, which she argued would worsen traffic and demonstrated their hypocrisy in opposing developments before elections only to approve them later.
She exposed their habit of raiding reserves to plug budget gaps instead of making strategic financial decisions, their failure to make use of council-owned assets, and costly delays on projects like the Carnival Pool flats. With Wokingham Borough facing financial decline under their leadership, She made the case that the Liberal Democrats lack the vision and competence to govern effectively and have run out of ideas.
She emphasized that a Conservative administration would take a more responsible approach—cutting waste, improving financial efficiency, and ensuring council decisions benefit residents rather than serving political interests. She ended by calling for change in the next election, urging residents to support the Conservatives to restore competent leadership and improve local services.
