After a refreshing cup of tea, we headed over to Palmer Park for the Nepalese football competition. This is the second largest Nepalese football tournament in the UK, and it was fantastic to see just how busy and vibrant the event was. The atmosphere was full of energy, with teams, supporters, and families all coming together to celebrate both sport and community spirit with fantastic traditional music as well.
It was a real privilege to be part of such an occasion, showcasing the strong Nepalese community here in Reading and the important role they play in local life. Events like this bring people together, highlight cultural pride, and give young players the chance to shine on the pitch, despite the rain later in the day.
And while I will never lift a football trophy myself, standing beside one at Palmer Park is probably the closest I’ll ever get — and it was an event to remember!
